lonely, vent

I'm feeling pretty bad about not having friends I can spend time with in real life, and never getting invited to social events. I can't seem to do anything about it either since it seems like every plan I make to try to improve things falls apart on me, no matter what.

It feels like other people don't struggle with this and I always feel really awful when I hear about other people getting to go to social events or actually have convention plans work. Why can't I have friends too?

slight flashing?

Saw a (completely innocent) tweet that primarily consisted of the word "flop" so that caused me to draw a mini sprite of cs188's Nyan Man, but SFW. YouTube Poop has left me messed up all these years later, hahahaha.

I might actually use this somewhere.

@mika@snouts.online I already had a gamedev background going into college math, so throughout that I'd realize "wait this actually has the potential to really help me" and that made it better since I had practical applications.

Math's nice when it's a tool, less so when it's a stressor.

Probably my favorite part of text conversations as opposed to voice ones is that you completely avoid the issue where people aren't giving you room to talk. You just talk.

Hey, some progress on making the inventory screen actually functional

@PixieCatSupreme For me, just finding an artist whose style I like and who's either open or has a reasonably small queue is always very difficult.

I used to have to be concerned over whether they'd be able to draw a squirrel too, though now that I have a reference I like that's less of an issue.

I want to find friends who will get excited over cartoon mice with me

@accelerando @softgoat Haha yeah most people I know who actually play end up mixing and matching parts from different species. I just be a boring person and entirely use a female squirrel avatar.

@maple It's the exact same way for me. At least forum posts are a little better, especially on forum software that doesn't display the "edited" marker if you edit it while it's the newest post in the thread.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 (not spoilers)

I've noticed that some of the second island's story is written in a way that does not treat heterosexuality as the default at all and I'm pleased with that, regardless of if it was intended. The way it's written, there would have been some of that if I were to have played as a boy too.

@XerTheSquirrel after getting my current reference sheet I don't really worry about squirrel drawing ability anymore. I still typically want to see some cute girls before I agree to something though.

I think the biggest problem I run into when commissioning furry art is that many artists have not drawn very many girls, and as a result I have a hard time judging whether I like their art style or not.

When someone has a bunch of cute girls in their portfolio it easily turns into "this is very pretty and I want to see Nova/Maffi/whoever drawn like this!"

@skelltan Second inventory for items you pick up in the level (keys and such) that can't be carried outside the level. Probably need to find another phrase to use that communicates that more clearly that's still short enough to fit.

I'm designing a mockup for an inventory screen! It'll actually have both inventories displayed simultaneously, item icons, item descriptions, and best of all, a sleeping Maffi riding along in your inventory in the corner.

@softgoat by maximum browsing you mean maximum duplicate notification noise right

Negative

I'm actually sort of panicking because the situations where I will desperately need the ADA accommodations I'm trying to get may come up as early as September, and I have to navigate this maze of stuff in order to finally get someone to fill out paperwork that honestly should not be required in the first place. If all I'm going to do when I finally find a suitable physician is tell them my experiences and have them believe me then why require their involvement at all?

I got an Isabelle mug (artoferin on Twitter) and a Team Rocket mug. I bring the Team Rocket one to work and it's a rather nice 20 oz one. One of the many little things that help make work fun.
