Tilemap Town has the start of a mail system now. Things should be mostly implemented server-side (aside from anti-abuse measures I will need to add) and I need to add it client-side now too.

I don't think I'm going to put in a bulletin board system though because honestly that job is better done by forums.

I think it's the part of December where everyone's off visiting their families so I'm gonna brave it as best as I can and be productive with it if nothing else.

@Tamber IRC's definitely important for being such a well-established and well-supported thing. At the same time I feel that any new protocols should take advantage of the hindsight we have now.

Me, except I'm not sure there's anything I actually want. I should probably ask for plushes or something.

@flussence@nulled.red same for people intentionally spelling things wrong which I've also seen

Realizing that I have a NickServ and ChanServ equivalent but no MemoServ so I should get on that. Leaving messages for offline users is pretty important!

I found a big stack of referrals from high school that I thought were lost! Now I can reminisce about how bad students at my high school were.

When thinking about architecture for Tilemap Town features one thing that pops into my mind is "wait a minute am I reinventing IRC services here?"

I think the real problem with IRC services was that it was sort of clunky having *core* features like name and channel ownership be bots you message, but that kinda stuff is actually integrated into the server here.

I guess the concept of non-core features in the form of server-side bots for all users to use is harmless, though.

Cooking

I think it's amusing how the pizza recipe I use barely uses most of the ingredients. A teaspoon of salt and sugar, 1/16th cup of oil. You can buy a large container and not have to again for like a year if all you use them for is pizza.

And then cake calls for a whole 1/3 cup of oil and it looks a little less endless after making a few.

Food

Cake is in the oven. Excited to have cake again soon!

@XerTheSquirrel Obviously that's what power outlets on the outside of buildings are for :p

Actually I'm unsure what they're actually supposed to do. I guess you could plug in a light?? For the insides of garages on the other hand that makes a lot more sense, because that sounds like the ideal place to put a workshop or something.

Once upon a time I had a friend over so we decided to bring a monochrome TV/monitor outside and plug it and a Nintendo 64 into the garage for no reason. I think we were very bored.

@00dani @softgoat Smashville predates City Folk and New Leaf so I wouldn't count on that. :p

Though I wonder just how many people would use that name if they could.

re: Food

@XerTheSquirrel When I went to buy cake mix ALDI was out of everything but "classic yellow" so it's gonna be one of those, with vanilla frosting. I did chocolate frosting on chocolate cake last time and that was just overwhelmingly chocolatey.

Food

You know what, I think tonight is a cake baking night!

One predicament I have here is that while I'm 100% free to favorite anything I want without risk of it ending up on someone else's timeline, most of the stuff on Twitter I wanted to like (but that I didn't want to push onto anyone) was shown to me through... other people's likes ending up on my timeline. :p
