So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.

Phillips O'Brien's weekend update on the war. This week very much about weapons deliveries and the fact that a lot of positive news drowned in discussions about Germany's baffling indecisiveness on tanks. https://phillipspobrien.substack.com/p/weekend-update-12?publication_id=1176440&isFreemail=true
@DidiQ Yes, DeSantis IS a White Supremacist.
White Supremacy SHOULD be designated a Domestic Terrorist group.
Actually, I thought it already HAD BEEN.
WHY is our justice system so damn SLOW?
We need harsher laws for DOMESTIC TERRORISM!

Extrapolating from a single data point (Earth) is sketchy, but I lean in the direction of yes, there's other life, and other intelligent life, out there. It seems unlikely that it only happened here. Earth just isn't that special or different.
Hey people of Mastodon. When I was 18 I made a cover to Don McLean's Vincent. I made the video private years ago because I was a teenager and thought I looked ugly. I do not look ugly haha I know it now but it doesn't matter, it's an emotional cover that I was happy to make. Hope you like it β€οΈ would love to hear your thoughts.

I just saw this somewhere else.
@ScottSoCal These nutjobs are in a frenzy to out-crazy each other and itβs an incredibly significant problem. Weβve become numb to the constant barrage of outrages and they push the envelope even further every day.
It is scary and I hope we get to keep our democracy.

I would add critical thinking - the ability to sift through information, separate fact from opinion, and form a hypothesis based on data.
What are five important core skills every teen should be taught?
Planning: being able to make and carry out concrete goals and plans
Focus: the ability to concentrate on whatβs important at a given time
Self-control: controlling how we respond to not just our emotions but stressful situations
Awareness: not just noticing the people and situations around us, but also understanding how we fit in
Flexibility: the ability to adapt to changing situations.

It's just their knee-jerk "own the libs" move. CA has mandated that by 2035 all new car sales must be EVs. So, of course, WY had to do the reverse.
JFC. In GQP whacko news of the day, they want to take us back a century in a whole new way.

Update: The Camry back seat isn't much better for the freakishly tall.
Someday my grandchildren will learn the history of the war in Ukraine. They will ask "Why did they give weapons for so long, because so many lives could have been saved?" The answer will be one "They hesitated and were afraid"
@aliide
The Tories are all-in with Putin. Just like the Republicans in the US.
Russian ambassador Yakovenko hosted a lavish party in the gardens of his residence in Kensington with guests who included the former minister of culture, media and sport, John Whittingdale, and Boris Johnsonβs now wife, Carrie Symonds
