Assuming I'm autistic - still on the fence about that, but leaning - the thing I've always felt set me apart at work is my ability to make connections between very different things. I resolved an issue with cracks in a crystalline substrate by putting it into the context of my hobby, woodworking. To me it's a logical progression, but to everyone else it's the wildest kind of leap.
Does anyone else here do that? Find a solution by extrapolating in unusual directions?

A guy I had a crush on - we were friends, but I couldn't acknowledge even to myself that I wanted more from him - scored low, and he basically gave up in school, and no one tried to salvage him. He wasn't dumb, but the teachers looked at that number and gave up on him. It still pisses me off when I think about it.

I was always told I "wasn't living up to my potential". School gave everyone an IQ test, and after that people were pigeon-holed according to the number they were assigned by a test they took once. My number happened to be high, but others were low.
What if they were tired? Stressed? Dealing with personal issues? Not interested in taking your stupid test?

Has anyone ever told my #ActuallyAutistic comrades that they weren’t β€œsmart enough” or β€œfocused enough” for school, college, or work? You aren’t alone.

Where are we going, and why am I in this hand~basket?

@e_urq They are coming for everything that isn’t white male hetro Christian and when the rest of us are gone they will start sorting out the wrong type of Christians.

This is why trans rights are human rights and human rights are important to all of us.

Jack Dorsey is the one who did little-to-nothing about Nazis on Twitter 1.0, and whole-heartedly endorsed the sale to make it what it is today.
I should trust him - why, exactly?

@TheAutisticTooter @actuallyautistic
I can say that, in my case, the answer is "sometimes".
Occasionally I'll get what I call a "flush rush" that moves from my head down to my gut, stops there, swirls around, then turns into a knot. Then it dissipates a few seconds later.
I know - I'm not normal.

@rchusid

You should also start each appointment 5 minutes late, and tell each of them "Sorry I'm late, I was dealing with a death certificate for an unvaccinated patient."

Most days I have from zero to two unvaccinated patients. Today I have four scheduled. They are all telehealth but I'm still half tempted to put on a mask, wash my hands, and perhaps clean my nose with Nozin and gargle with a CPC containing mouthwash. :)
