My GP told me I really needed the MRI today, so I went back. They gave me Ativan, which didn't do much for me. When I asked the how long we were going to wait for the first shot to kick in, they called the nurse and she gave me a shot of something else - Versed. The combination was stellar. MRI was over before I knew it, chatted with the MRI techs. Now I'm back home, and I'm ready to go to bed.

From what the technician said to me it seems like everyone finds it traumatic - it’s just for some people the response to it is to shut down so they don’t β€˜feel’ it the same way. I guess I was just lucky to fall in to that camp.

I hope that the information they get from it makes it worth having gone through it.

And I figured I'd be all right, until they put that shield on my face, and it pressed on my chest. I have an "athletic" build, and my chest/ribcage is significantly larger than is normal for my height/weight/waist. They commented on it, then slid me into the machine, while I felt my chest compressed and I couldn't take a deep breath. It felt like being buried alive. When the noises started, it was way over the line of what I could take.

Also, if you don't believe in good karma, let me just tell you I gave my brother a kidney in August, then met my Hubs in September of that year. 1984.

@Sci_Fi_FanGirl a situation in which i consider more than 20 people at once as friends or comfortable with, would be a completely new experience. 🫣@actuallyautistic

@WideAperture my (adult) daughter says they look like they are about to politely but firmly ask me for my lunch money. πŸ˜‚

My dad always taught me that it's the people you touch and who touch you that matter in this world. But yes officer, he should have mentioned he didn't mean it literally, I know that now.

Bluesky is over. The British terfs are there, and they are coordinating.

This does not mean I'll be posting more here, just a heads up to let people know what to expect when they get there. There is no safe space anywhere.

Talking with my Husband Randy this morning:

Randy: Today is national kiss day
Randy: I wish I had a beret.
Me: Because only people with berets kiss?
Randy: I will be your Antonio.
Me: He's Spanish and I don't think he is known for berets and the Spanish and the French aren't the only ones who kiss.
Randy: Still
Me: Brush your teeth.

It’s happened. Our department has lost a young faculty member to a better offer in a safer state.

Texas’s extremist government will end up wrecking the universities here. Given a choice, people don’t want to subject themselves to fascism.

They're sedimentary rocks - laid down in layers by accumulated silt, then hardened to rock.

How come those rocks are so neatly sliced? Any rock expert here has a guess?

I saw them (and many more) in a dry river bed in the hills, northern #Italy.
