My dog rings a bell to get me up. Now who's Pavlov? Nicely played, Bax.

@book

I ordered new glasses last week. Passed by the designer frames, picked up something sturdy and metal, and told the disappointed-looking opto clerk I need something parrot-proof.

Picked up new specs. Boring, dull, perfectly fitted yet unfitting.

I demand fabulosity!

Another "Miserable Monday." Another "Excessive Heat Warning" is affect for #today. Another humid n sticky night under the fan in order to sleep. πŸ˜•

I have tended to think this may be the "new normal" now. But I know that isn't true. This is just the beginning, and in a way, I'm glad I'm a retired old man with a bad heart n little time left to suffer through this.

So I go about #myday. Doin' the little bit I can do and hum along to my 'theme song' for a little comfort. :

"All of the hard days are gone.
It's all beer n Whisky and songs from now on.
Laugh at the darkness and dance until dawn.
All of the hard days are gone."

Sorry for the ugly mood #today. Y'all just enjoy what ya got while ya got it. πŸ‘ And of course, feel free to #joinin n sing along. πŸ˜πŸ––

I see a couple of phone apps or online sites for that, but everything else talks about Adobe.

Hey #filmphotgraphy folk: I'm struggling to effectively process and invert my negatives. I do not have Adobe and I don't really want to get sucked into their model for my hobby. What do you recommend? Darktable is powerful but imposing, I can't really wrap my head around its UI

@scalzi

OK, I get that there are only so many places you can visit, and you're scheduled to travel to Budapest, but why are you not coming to my town?
😈

Hey, whatcha doing in September? Because I'm going on a book tour then, and if I'm coming to your town, you should totally come see me, and maybe get a book signed and stuff. The link below has places, dates, times and links to ticketing, plus all the other information you need to know. See you there!

Overheard 2 businessmen discussing corporate office changes so that employees "won't feel like just a cog in a machine."

They came up with these 'great' strategies:

- Rearrange the cubicles
- Art on the walls
- Seat managers closer to employees
- More team fun events

Notably not discussed:

- More pay
- Profit sharing
- More ownership of decisions & input
- Recognition of employee successes
- More PTO and/or work-life flexibility
- WFH options

Good luck guys! πŸ˜†

OK, I can work with that. I've started calling it camouflaging, because that's what I've tried to do my whole life - fit in/blend in.

But going off on a tangent from your post - how many of us unconsciously adopt accents or unique phrases when we travel? Just sitting here thinking about it, it seems like it could be a common autistic trait. We work so hard to blend in that we don't always know when to turn that circuit off.

@actuallyautistic

@ScottSoCal Same. However I get only the odd funny look. Maybe it’s my resting bitch-face and the fact thatI’m 6’1”.
