Before supper last night, I whipped up a chocolate cake, because it's CHOCOLATE CAKE… and we didn't have any around.

This breaks every rule in the book, but I'm having lunch cake today too.

@ottaross

If lunch cake is breaking the rules, I guess I should warn everyone to avert their eyes when I have a slice of breakfast cake.

I've started wondering if the negative reaction NTs have to NDs is related to the phenomenon they're calling "Uncanny Valley" in robotics. People have an automatic negative reaction to robots who are very close to human appearance, but slightly off.

My Wife: Now don't eat all of the cake at once

Me: sorry I'm driving and you're breaking up

My Wife: I'm right here in the passenger seat!

I think my dog is a Gumby/Lab mix. Maybe I should have named him Gumby. Then when someone asks his name , I could say β€œHe’s Gumby dammit!”

Don’t ask me who Gumby is, you young whippersnapper. Also don’t ask me what whippersnapper means.

Good news today: A coalition of 25 state governors announced a major push to reach 20M deployed heat pumps by 2030 -would represent a quadrupling of the number of heat pumps installed in 2020. Heat pumps are energy efficient replacements for furnaces & ACs -use electricity to transfer heat, as opposed to generate heat & can either heat a building when it is cold outside or cool a building when it is hot outside.

What does disgust for disabled people look like in its purest, most densely crystallized form, like a black diamond of hatred spat out by one of the most twisted, hollowed-out, f*cked-up criminals in US history? Imagine supporting this man and calling yourself a "patriot," a "Christian," or even a "human being"? theatlantic.com/magazine/archi

I love the weird, overly annunciated voice people use when responding to automated customer service voice prompts. I just walked by a colleague's office (who is clearly trying to get into his bank account via phone) and heard him practically bellow:

(Ten seconds of silence)

"CHECK-KING ACCOUNT"

(Another ten seconds of silence)

"YES"

(silence)

"CUSS-TUH-MER SER-VICE"

First thought: Those are cool! I want a pair!

Second thought: I couldn't wear socks with those.

Third thought: No socks? [shudder]

Learn to play classical piano. I've always wanted to, but never done it because I don't think I could find a teacher/student setup that would be successful.

I like some types of Brooks running shoes, and Hoka, their Clifton series. I used to be a toe walker, but wore boots to train myself out of it. Some of the Brooks and Hoka shoes have thick padding under the complete sole, so they work for either.
