It's possible they were trying to avoid the mistakes their parents made, so they were in uncharted territory.
I know when I was looking at becoming a parent, one of the most important things to me was not to re-create the abuse my parents created.
Mango, papaya, pineapple, honeydew, mixed with baked parrot pellets, then a finely minced bunch of kale, purple cabbage, carrots.
I don't know if the pellets are tasty, but Scooter like them. π
@ScottSoCal @ldmay65 @actuallyautistic Yeah, I can relate to that, Data is a favourite of mine, I suspect for much the same reason. The scene where he pushes Beverly Crusher into the sea on the holodeck would totally be me !
One day I realized why my favorite characters in Star Trek are my favorites. The Doctor, Seven of Nine, both trying to figure out how to human, never quite getting it, and sometimes deciding it's just too much hassle.
I bought myself this shirt a few years ago. π€£ Just kind of claiming it.

People who aren't ND find it distracting or annoying. If I had a dollar for every time someone told me kid-me to stop fidgeting / squirming / clicking / tapping / popping my lips / rubbing my pants leg / whatever , I could buy an island and retire to it.
My autism presents opposite to that. I have hyperlexia, taught myself to read by the time I was 3 or 4, was reading at an adult level by the time I was in 3rd grade. My school records all say I didn't perform to the level they expected.
I have a lifetime of being a disappointment.

Saying ello to all awesome #NeuroSpicy πΆ / #AuDHD / #ActuallyAutistic peeps!
I've been Tooting a lot about my current struggles relating to: moving/changing life/changing routine/being social on social media. Maybe you've noticed... π
I'm looking for peeps to follow! Peeps to chat with. Maybe you've been in "my" situation, maybe you'll be in "my" situation (soon), or maybe you just wanna try out your social skills (like I do).
Please drop me a Toot!
This time, this Toot, I will be brave and tag the Actually Autistics group for a boost
Be warned, I either Toot my fingers off, or I'll lurk from a safe hiding spot...
Have a fabulous day πΈ

It's the weekend here, so Scooter gets to sleep a few minutes later, but breakfast is ready when she is.
I resemble that image!

Sounds about right π
The Yuppies were formed under senile Ronnie Raygun, and that nasty **nt Nancy.
Yes, they're that clueless.
OK, so we'll go with the Republican argument that guns aren't the problem, people are the problem.
Why do they want problem people to have guns?
Just a little reminder that here in Europe, we play the same exact video games as youth from the United States
We do not have (daily) school shootings however
Instead of blaming video games, start looking at the super easy to get weapons on each corner of street problem
Games are not the problem, weapons are πΊπΈ
J.K. Rowling and "Separating the Art from the Artist"

"This hypothetical separation of the person from the thing they created always rankles me a little bit β because I don't think marginalized creators, including trans creators, ever quite get that luxury."
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
