#Solnit πŸ’―: "Much has been said about the age of the candidates, but maybe it’s the corporate media whose senility is most dangerous to us. Their insistence on proceeding as though things are pretty much what they’ve always been, on normalizing the appalling and outrageous, on using false equivalencies and bothsiderism to make themselves look fair and reasonable, on turning politics into horseraces and personality contests, is aiding the destruction of the United States."

@StaceyCornelius

Depending on the outcome of the next election, I might need an emotional support Canada.
Although I wouldn't put it past the Mango Moron to declare war on y'all.

Checking in to see if anyone needs an emotional support Canadian.

The #debate was all about #TFG's 50 LIES because that's how CNN intentionally framed it.

Pres Biden was a truth teller & has a stellar record.

Amplify the facts from the #BidenHarris campaign that delineates the 50 lies that TFG told:

You're a criminal if you are unhoused, but a political official taking a bribe is ok.

Got it.

@noondlyt

No, bribes are still illegal, but a "gift" after the pol does what you wanted is totes OK.
Although the before / after aspect is still a little gray, considering the timing of all those "gifts" to Clearance Sale Thomas.

Overheard, WTF.

OH: β€œTwink milk contains high amounts of acetylcholine!”

@ScottSoCal Right??? What do they think trump will do? He'd probably ENCOURAGE the extermination of Gazans πŸ₯Ί

@olena

I avoid conflicts, but because I'm afraid of my own reaction - I dig in my heels and things can escalate.
I've learned to shrug it off when someone is wrong about something (factual, not opinion). Unless they're wrong many times and keep repeating it. Then I'll tell them quietly, without anyone else around. If they're still wrong after that, I write them off as too stupid to save and ignore them.

@actuallyautistic

@ScottSoCal

feel the same

IMO the people making these Biden-blaming posts *know* it would be even worse with Trump, they simply don't care

for some, pretending Gaza is somehow Biden's fault makes it easier to look in the mirror than just admitting they're happy to usher in fascism if they think it will lower their taxes

straight up MAGAs don't need an excuse to vote for fascism, but for those who won't admit even to themselves that money is their god, GOP crafts a different kind of lie

@ScottSoCal The fact is, Trump has already said he’d blast Gaza out of existence, so it would absolutely not be better with him. He and Bibi are two peas in a pod.

@Bette

I think she was worried about appearing "shrill and angry and unlikeable".
I secretly wish she'd maced him, but I think she could have gotten away with mocking him: speak quietly into her microphone
"Can someone call security? I think I have a stalker."

@blueemu

No, he can't. Not unilaterally. He would need Congress, and the House is controlled by people who will burn it all down rather than give Biden something he wants.

I'm going nuts with all the posts I'm seeing about Biden and Gaza.

Yes, I hate what's happening in Gaza.
Yes, Biden is president.
No, there's nothing he can legally do to stop it. He can encourage Bibi to stop slaughtering people - and he is. He can delay shipments of weapons - and he is. He can't violate US law or signed treaties. He's not a dictator, here or in Israel. He can't just do whatever he wants.

And, seriously - how would ANY of this be better with Trump?!?!?
