When I turned 70, I thought, βWell, thatβs it. Iβve had a great career, but itβs winding down.β
Boy, was I wrong. I found social media, and then a second wind at my sails in my 70s! I made my Broadway debut at 78, and Iβll make my London debut at 85.
Life is truly wonderful and magical.
If youβre in London, come see me in Allegiance starting in January. Tix here: https://allegiancemusical.com
π Itβs hard for me to admit it. But I need your help. Please follow my soon-to-premier podcast #BookedUp and listen to our trailer.
Letβs prove that I donβt need to be on Twitter to promote the inaugural episode that drops on my birthday β December 4. First guest is Dahlia Lithwick who will talk about οΏΌLADY JUSTICE, chaos muppets, bobbins, and wearing Ax body spray.

Why I Quit Elon Muskβs Twitter

A profile in the British press on my life and my lifeβs work. I hope youβll do me the honor of reading it. At the end, thereβs info on how to catch me live on a London stage in βAllegianceβ starting in January. https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/star-treks-george-takei-cruelly-28590776
You come across some disturbing things when you browse old newspapers. Case in point is the New York Times Amusements This Evening section from December 30, 1851, where they highlight an exhibition of βTwo Living Aztec Childrenβ at the Society Library.
Later on in 1852, the Times goes in much greater detail about how these two children were kidnapped and then sold in San Salvador to an American and brought to New York City to be exhibited.
Itβs notable that the resistance by Ukrainians to Russian authoritarianism, the protests against authoritarianism in China and the protests against authoritarianism in Iran are all happening at the same time.
βCourage calls to courage everywhereβ. Solidarity to all.
The title of this thread is called "Angry Black Women".
On January 20, 2017 this picture was my Facebook avatar. It is Michelle Obama at the inauguration of the 45th president. About a month later, a white female person I know texted me "Can you change your avatar photo, now." Which I did. The following is a selection of the Angry Black Women avatars I used since. These Angry Black Women changed out lives for the better.
@BrentToderian Santa Barbara (California) has kept their State Street closed to traffic, down near the beach, with cafe seating and pedestrian zones. I enjoy it.
To ensure cars didnβt take back control of #Paris streets as the pandemic was βendingβ (no, it hasnβt ended), like they have in so many cities, Mayor #AnneHidalgo made sure that 60k parking spaces and many streets were permanently transformed into seating for restaurants, people places and bike-lanes.
Leadership.

I have a thick skin. Iβm not unaccustomed to attacks. And I surely donβt mind reasonable people raising opposing views. But the bird app has been swamped with MAGA Republicans determined to drive away progressives with false narratives and ad hominem attack. A dispiriting display of the human condition and a waste of time. Alas.

This is what true leadership looks likeβwhen you always speak up for universal human rights because you recognize the inherent humanity in every person. This is yet another example of why @georgetakei is a true leader. β€οΈβπ½
@QasimRashid GOP silence at Trump hosting a Nazi is also not great for LGBT+, atheists, and anyone else not wanting to live in a dystopian theocratic dictatorial hellscape.
I was able to get a good night's sleep and woke with limited pain. I was able to shower by myself and shave!! Granted I love when I have help, but the ability to have a choice in the matter is always preferred. #disabled #smallthings #sofreshandsoclean
WOW. After yesterday's appeal to stand up for DACA recipients, more than 600 people signed this petition. I'm re-upping the appeal to get us past the 1000 signature mark.
DACA recipients need permanent protected status. Dems can deliver. Let's hold them accountable. Thank you for using your voice to speak up.

"Every histrionic warning, every red-faced speech in Congress, every bizarre and creepy and disgusting claim, every threat to life and limb directed at queer people, every bullshit "study" fabricated at the Heritage Foundation -- all of it has been dead wrong."

So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
