My latest newsletter is all about the the debate that tore the trans community apart back in 2001, and why I think we've moved past it. Gather round, kids! It's story time...

They knew, and they were trying to raise money to cover it, and I've seen reports that they actually had it lined up - preventing this failure - but Peter Thiel, buddy of Elmo, buddy of TFG, buddy of Putin, had his VC company put out a statement that everyone must withdraw all their accounts immediately. And the bank crashed.
SVB was stupid, and irresponsible, but Thiel was evil.
That was just my little pouring out of my heart, because a friend of mine was threatened by an anti-trans βprotestorβtoday. They were out terrorizing the Childrenβs Hospital in St. Louis because they offer gender affirming healthcare. The βprotestorβ aimed their car at my friend, threatening to run him over, swerving at the last moment.
And my brave friend DANCED.
He found a reservoir of unstolen joy in his heart and used it to make his trans Jewish self more visible as a counter to the hate.
It takes almost nothing - a few thousand sales - to make a "top iTunes hit." Just some context.
It's the *principle* of the thing! And besides, he's a coyote, he's never heard of Sunk Cost Fallacy.

#JuniorDoctors #strike starts today, and so as before; when your appointment has been cancelled, when your #healthcare has been disrupted, please do not get annoyed at the striking #HealthService staff.
They have gone on strike as a last resort, after years of #tory attrition towards the #NHS and a radical decade long program of defunding of our health service.
Direct your anger & blame towards the #Tories & #JeremyHunt who have been instrumental in causing the #nhscrisis
Technically, just doing less bad is doing better.
So, my partner was sunning hisself on the varanda when he asked me to get him another beer AND open it,. When I asked him if he'd like me to press it to his lips, too, he said, "No but a sippy straw would be nice."
We have a little baby avocado tree in the backyard that got old enough to produce a couple of years ago, and it works for us.
@geekyonion @ScottSoCal @peterb If I can be a plant nerd for a moment, I've always found the avocado toast thing to be hilariously strange. Avocados literally grow on trees in California, and anyone who wants to grow them in their backyard can plant one and in a few years have more than they can possibly eat. (We were getting over 2000 avocados a year from a tree at a place we rented a couple of years ago.)
