My newest book on the shelf, alongside two far superior authors: David Foster Wallace and Irvine Welsh.

Ok I am going to brag about my tattoo. The TRAPPIST-1 planetary system played a fundamental role in my PhD research, and I was PI on >40 hrs total observing time of the star with the VLA and ALMA radio telescopes.
Going across my arms are the star & all (known) TRAPPIST-1 planets, and when I hold my arms out their distances are to scale.
I "get" dogs and birds. Nothing they do is surprising, although some of what they do can be disappointing, or sad.
Do you form deep connections with animals or do you find them unpredictable and anxiety producing?

The fun really starts when your brain implant has a rapid unscheduled disassembly.
@autism101 @actuallyautistic I love animals. So much more than humans, my least fave animal.
When my GP first said when giving me my psych referral, that "you need to figure out who Loops is",
I did feel like I don't know who I am. Which one of the many things I'm into is really 'it'? Why does everyone else have a focus? When I try and answer who I am, why can't I decide? I know it's not many personalities or that type of thing. I know I'm not in conflict over that *I* like those things.
Slowly, that's changing.
The conflict was picking. I'm many things. And it's ok to be many things. I don't have to match others expectations of being one thing. That's me. I don't need to decide.
I hope you know, it's ok to be who you already are, too βοΈ

Reminder that we have literally zero idea what the actual covid case numbers are in Australia as most people aren't testing if they have symptoms, and most of those who do test positive aren't recording their results with official records.
So when you read about the increases and the new peak were entering in time for winter, that's only a tiny fraction of what's out there.
So please, please, put on a fucking mask.
Sat on the tram and this huge guy looked at me, wide-eyed, looked away, and then looked again -- like, he stared. It was intense. I started to get nervous: was he angry? Deranged? Hostile?
"Are you ok?" I asked
He jumped "Sorry," he said. "I was just trying to solve the equations on your jumper."
I laughed. We nodded, one nerd to another, and that was that.

Another fun mindfuck of the past 12 years is the self deluded, self loathing capacity for redpill / Gamergate/ incel types to simuktaneously perceive they are wicked edgy free thinkers all while being platformed to lick boots and pleasure the taints of Apartheidist Elon Musk, Neofascist Peter Thiel, and the like.

This song always helps me relax. Maybe it will help you?
I only learned recently that sitting on cakes was a thing that some people "enjoy". Like, really enjoy. I still don't know how I feel about that.
So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
