I had a coworker named Aja who is of mixed race and absolutely beautiful and some creepy guy kept trying to get her to tell him her race and she would NOT give him the satisfaction and the conversation went something like this:

Creep: So, where are you from?
Aja: Chicago.
Creep: No, where are your parents from?
Aja: Chicago.
Creep: Okay, well Aja is a really exotic name, where is that from?
Aja: A Steely Dan song.

I’ve got a new song up! The track β€œStars of Diamond” gets its name and intro from Carl Sagan. ✨

Trans people have always existed and even sometimes been publicly celebrated, and there's infinitely more cases of trans people being victims of violence and abuse than perpetrators.

But the narrative that trans people are new and dangerous never goes away because it's so useful to authoritarians, who take advantage of the prurient-puritanical mores and ignorance they foment by subverting education and journalism.

Necessity is the mother of invention!

This brave lady is Rusya. She joined the Armed Forces of #Ukraine on Feb 24 last year, when she was just 18, in reaction to Russia’s full-scale invasion. She served as a comms systems operator til Feb 10 this yr when her vehicle was hit by mortar fire and she lost part of her leg

Little Man was such a meek, live-to-please little puppy. It shook his whole world to think I might be the least bit upset with him. I worked on his assertiveness. It's been 15 years, and this is him today, letting me know it's time for dinner. Think the assertiveness training worked?

OLD THREAD REPOST

As #LGBTHistoryMonth draws to a close, let's celebrate the sapphic urge to spend the 1920s prolifically creating beautiful female gaze art of your wife. Here is a thread of some of Gerda Wegener's paintings and illustrations of her wife, Lili Elbe.

New #introduction for new instance!

This morning I was unfollowed and blocked by someone because I apparently boost too many posts from other accounts. While admittedly it does sting a little, it's understandable; since 2022-12-01, I've posted or boosted almost 16.5k. The math for that isn't complicated.

I firmly believe that every single person here on the fediverse is entitled to follow, unfollow or block whomever they wish; one of the best, if not THE best aspects of this is how we are our own algorithms. I owe no one a follow and no one owes me one either.

Having said that, I wanted to make clear to everyone that yes, I am aware I'm active to an excessive extent. I boost things that I enjoy, or I find hilarious, thought-provoking, heartbreaking, or any combination of these things - sometimes even ALL of them.

I feel camaraderie with many folks on here and the amount of creativity and talent to be found here is truly staggering. To me, the posts I boosts aren't just mundane text, they are ARTISTIC creations.

So, in summary - if I'm posting/boosting too much, then I offer my apologies. But I have no intention of stopping - quite the opposite. So if you need to mute, unfollow or even block - I encourage you to do so now before I cause psychic trauma.

I want to write a 'thanks for last night, it was amazing' note to that linguini I had yesterday. Mmmm.

Surprise!

While we were walking this morning, this American robin landed right in front of me. I took a lot of very detailed pictures of the robin moving around. At one point, I even said out loud, "give me one more pose." I was planning on posting one of those, then I saw this photo of the bird flying across the road. I didn't know I captured that ... happy accident. πŸ™‚

"Robins eat different types of food depending on the time of day: more earthworms in the morning and more fruit later in the day. Because the robin forages largely on lawns, it is vulnerable to pesticide poisoning and can be an important indicator of chemical pollution." - allaboutbirds.org

It’s really a cruel irony that the best way to manage your ADHD is, essentially, β€œtry your hardest to not have ADHD”.

Take a pill at around the same time every day? Sure, no problem. It’s not like I have a brain that’s particularly wired to specifically find that difficult.
