The scandal is far bigger than we thought. Just how deep does the rot with Justice Thomas go? And what historical precedent is there for how to deal with it? Importantly, can we seek to hold him accountable in any meaningful way today? Thatβs todayβs topic. https://statuskuo.substack.com/p/doubting-thomas?sd=pf
If I tell you this summer will be the summer of dying from the heat of the day. in homes, on streets, uou might think its a problem of the poor hot countries.
Canada, the polar nation had the first mass deaths from heat two years ago. 619 died, seniors and teens, on their floors, on their beds.
#Climate #Chaos IS NOT ABOUT 1.5 degrees of excess heat.
Climate chaos is about death.
Its the first weeks of spring, and India has 40C heat.
Trump says if he's elected he will force federal workers to pass a political test β then fire anyone who doesn't meet his standard
So, anyone who wants to uphold their oath of office? Fired.
Anyone with knowledge of the constitution? Fired.
Passing the civil service exam? Fired and sent to the Gulag.
It's fascism folks!
@ScottSoCal *blows raspberries*
3/3 thread: The final photo is of a later performance I did, much friendlier and less intrusive, called "My City, My Skin" in which I embroidered a map of Durban and Cape Town on a dress, and recorded ambient sounds of those cities, which you could listen to from little walkman headphones attached to the dress.
(Yes, there was a literal suitcase full of walkmans at my feet, each with a loop tape of random city sounds I'd recorded. )
I remember trying to explain these performance pieces to my lecturers and friends, but without the language of gender identity, and the knowledge of those ideas, it was pointless.
It's pretty amazing to remember what it was like to know there was something I was trying to express, but being unable to, and now I have the words and understanding.
@flexghost @ScottSoCal Can Piers Morgan please just crawl back under the slimy rock from whence he came?
Oh, and I stopped watching Maherβs show ages ago!
There is no extremist too extreme for a flattering New York Times profile. This time it's Jim Jordan: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/16/us/politics/jim-jordan-trump.html
And the Times keeps wondering why people who care about democracy are in despair about the organization's relentlessly rancid political coverage.
