The #Bible has been removed from libraries in Utah after a parent used a new law that permits the removal of "pornographic".

The parent argued that the Bible contained topics such as incest, bestiality, genital mutilation, and infanticide, making it pornographic under the new definition set forth in Utah Code Ann. Β§ 76-10-1227.

A GOP lawmaker expressed "sadness" regarding the situation.

Jupiter has something like 90+ moons. I'm not going to count.

When I started astronomy they told me 60.

We just keep learning more and more.

Anyway, the big 4 can be remembered
"I Eat Green Cows" (Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto)

A lot of the others also have names.

I'm just telling you all this so I can show you this gif of some moons orbiting Jupiter.

Good morning Mastodon! I’m a reporter and editor for @gbhnews focusing much of my time on social justice investigations. I read government documents and spreadsheets for fun! Also: typewriters. It’s Friday; here’s an Underwood.

re: Autistic Parenting While Autistic

@ScottSoCal Indeed! I think what I was thinking but didn’t have room to type, was that schools completely disregard the second and third order schedule impacts of their decisions, and act surprised when one raises concerns. So I like to turn it around and suggest they offer me their free times and I’ll fit them in instead. I just had to do this with NPS therapist. Ridiculous. @actuallyautistic

I am valiantly resisting starting a Well Actually with a stranger on the internet over one of my pet peeves: defining every possible action with some resource-based motive as "capitalism", including those in eras before the concept of capitalism was even invented.

I swear, it's the leftist version of calling the government doing anything good "socialism”. WORDS HAVE MEANINGS*, people! Augh!

(* Subject to usage, so when misused, their meaning broadens--and we lose clarity/precision. Sigh.)

@actuallyautistic
I'm fairly sure I'm not alone in this, as a late realised autistic person:

Now that I know I'm autistic, even some pretty painful experiences have a sort of positive undertow.

For example, when I, once again, blurt out something totally oblivious to the social situation I'm in and then do the usual OMG why do I do that cringe dance, there's also a part of me going * yay more proof that I really am autistic!!!!! *

Hey people of Mastodon. I slept very little last night and my ADHD is making it very hard to focus on this super important day so, I know I probably could've sounded punchier and not ask for help but one thing this queer learned in a lifetime of abuse is that sometimes it's okay to ask for help. Today the 'Redundant' project was released, my baby independent project about violence against the transgender and non-binary community. Would you watch/listen? Would you reblog?

OUT NOW!
We need your help in getting it to as many people’s awareness as possible. 'Redundant' is a 2 part music and film project made by 5 #nonbinary and #transgender #artists raising awareness to violence against gender diverse people in the #UK. We respond to the UK gov's blocking of Scotland's gender recognition reform bill and their avoidance of legislating a ban on conversion therapy. Supporters on Mastodon made this possible - Thank you!

Watch now - 'Redundant':

I love how "saying something stupid and/or cruel in public and being immediately made fun of for it" is supposed to be a horrible crisis instead of a natural outcome.

@theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic @actuallyautistics I wish my autistic teenager would heed this advice! They’re incredibly depressed & keep the curtains drawn. I have to go in & open the curtains & take care of them like a plant.

@ScottSoCal @actuallyautistic that lil circular arrow icon is the core of mastodon as there’s no backend automated dopamine dispensing code here. I don’t use it on every post I interact with, but most. Once this platform hits a critical mass, I will likely dial down how often I use it.

@ScottSoCal @actuallyautistic

I feel flattered and happy when I'm boosted. I take it as a sign that I've written something others find interesting and want to share with their community.

@ScottSoCal @actuallyautistic
My simple go to is, if I feel it would benifit or be of interest to anyone else I boost. If it's a question I don't know the answer to, I boost. If I just think someone may enjoy it, I boost. Whilst for me being boosted feels like someone's valuing me.

@StillIRise1963
Absolutely!

Comey deliberately put his thumb on the scale to help a Russian agent get elected.

The fact that he later criticized said Russian agent doesn't make up for what he did. Comey should be considered an accessory to any crime Trump committed while in office.

When the Government want to undermine private communications in the name of child protection, recall that they really don't care about child abuse. #onlinesafety #encryption

An etiquette question:
How do people feel about posts in here being boosted? If I understand the whole Mastodon thing, boosting it puts it in front of anyone who follows my (as an example) posts and boosts. Many of them aren't associated with this mob. Is that OK? Is that a faux pas? I don't know what to think.
