Two novels in one volume. A SORCERER OF ATLANTIS - old school heroic fantasy with a sense of humor, influenced by Moorcock, Vance, Leiber and HPL - and, A PRINCE IN THE KINGDOM OF GHOSTS about adventure in the afterlife.

He is very happy, and with gentle guidance and positive reinforcement, nothing punative, he finally potty trained. That's probably why he was so abused. Sadly, many people don't know how to gently train a resistant puppy.
@ScottSoCal @actuallyautistic That's great. I've contacted a-company-that-shall-not-be-named about a bug.
They fixed it.
Then the bug came back.
They fixed it.
Then the bug came back.
They fixed it.
Then the bloody bug came back.
My last interaction with them was to tell them that the bug is back and that maybe they should ask their engineers if they've ever heard of "regression testing."
(For those who don't know: regression testing is a way to make sure that bugs that have been fixed don't come back.)
I just had a situation where an infodump (a proper one) not only didn't get shut down, it helped.
On the phone with a company vendor, trying to explain a problem, and side-tracked into what it was going into, where it would be going, why this wasn't just a small problem, it was a very big f**king problem.
He thanked me - said he now understood, and would get to work on a solution immediately. That felt good.

Unexpected Pride moments on todayβs hike: the Progress Pride flag flying at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, and some Love is Love graffiti on a water tank. π
@ScottSoCal I figured it was something like that; thanks for taking the time. I think I'm going to rabbithole this a little further

Around the time of my little
'international boarder incident,' my mom was hinting to my grandparents that she needed a new car. That Xmas grandpa gave here one of those cigarette lighters with a note that said, "Well, you've gotta start somewhere." π€£

@StefanThinks wait I need details on this "Dip"
So, what the worst thing for which you ever got in trouble?
When I was 10 years old (1974), my buddy Craig (9) and I caused a (very minor) international incident because we got on the wrong subway train in West Berlin and wound up in Soviet-controlled communist /EAST/ Berlin. As a result, Major Dad (USAF), his boss (Craig's LTC Dad), their boss, AND the base commander all had to put on their fancy-dress uniforms to retrieve us.
I spent the rest of the summer on HOME CONFINEMENT.
TOP THAT! π€£π€ͺ

So... me. Work in aerospace, more space, not as much aero. Can fix my own car, choose not to. Can fix the random appliance of your choice. Hardcore introvert in person, which is why I love online. Lifelong science fiction fan. Read constantly. Scalzi is my favorite author, because he mixes exactly the right amount of snark into his writing. Together with a guy 30+ years, married since it was legal. Own a home in CA and don't plan to leave unless I immigrate to another country.
