I've been a PC gal for a long time but I've been trying to branch back into console stuff, partially to check out stuff I missed that isn't on PC (or the "better" version is on console)

but I ain't got US$500 to burn, man

Been playing a bit of Serious Sam's Bogus Detour.

Turns out Serious Sam's style of gameplay fits perfectly as a top-down shooter, who knew!!

I think this is why I'm not a big fan of modern game show themes, they lack that sense of intensity, that sense of punch, that pop

Closest theme I heard in the past few years that nailed the old-school vibe was, of all the game shows out there, 25 Words Or Less.

It Is Time for bev to again share some game show music she's been listening to

game show themes didn't have to get this funky but I'm glad it did youtube.com/watch?v=E2CnTYFoF8

A lot of people seem to think it’s funny to make disrespectful jokes about the Pope dying. And they’re right.

Thanks to finding a box of old PS1 and Dreamcast games, I've added more games to the ol "CD games with Red Book Audio" list.

I also found out Dreamcast discs have a generic "This is a Dreamcast disc, don't put it in a CD" message, but the message differs from game to game!

re: uspol

@selectric d-david brooks welcome to the resistance????

I'd like to not only document *if* a CD game has Redbook Audio, but what tracks are on there.

The game soundtrack, audio files for cutscenes, or even that remix that's on Castlevania Symphony of the Night

It's that kind of ephemera I like

A rabbit hole I've since gone down:

How come nobody's properly documented what PS1, Saturn et al games have Redbook audio?

There's lists dating back as far as 2003, but they're incomplete and/or inaccurate.

Looks like I might have a project idea...

@dyke_du_jour you think with that hbomberguy video that more people would go "oh guinness doesn't keep real records, maybe I shouldn't trust them" but I guess not everyone's aware yet

listening to the soundtrack of the Tomb Raider film from 2001 and we're missing out on the days where they'd get a bunch of industrial/electronic artists to contribute some banger tracks

Like, if your soundtrack doesn't have Moby, BT, The Chemical Brothers and Groove Armada, what are you *doing*
