@Chel @feathers glamour (the mechanic for changing the appearance of your armor) is the true endgame - so yes!

@Chel @feathers basically you can go between "Swimsuit Edition" to head to toe pure black armor to gaudy opera house reject with just a few raid runs

@Chel @Zelli There's a lot of cash buy fashion, yeah, and you can apply it to any underlying gear generally. But I've been trying to stick to in-game myself.

I just... ugh. Like I said, I'm horribly shallow about things like this and have a hard time investing in a game if I don't like the way my character looks 😅

my pick-up rate for MMOs is admittedly really low, though - the only thing to last more than a few hours so far has been Mabinogi. BUT - it never hurts to try ^^

(especially since it seems like a lot of people are into it, whereas Mabinogi is basically just the Scarly & Chel Show :/ )

@Chel @Zelli Now I'm curious what server Zelli is on, we are on Midgardsommr right now. I have some friends elsewhere, but there's sort of a bias against making alts in this game because you can basically level everything on one character, and doing that all over again on another server isn't the greatest feeling.

@feathers @Zelli Mabinogi is somewhat like that - there are no classes per se, just different occupations that you can switch between once a week (or once a day early on).

...actually, the leveling system is... a bit different, dunno if either of y'all are familiar with the game.

basically your character's level (and optionally appearance, gender, etc) changes and fluctuates frequently, with growth from skill advancement remaining

@Chel @Zelli @Chel @Zelli In regards to the larger MMOscape, I honestly haven't played that many (mostly just WoW), but what I can say is that, it's like they took the good parts of a lot of MMOs (including WoW) and somehow brought them together into something better and more attractive. Better ambiance, better visuals, good controls, more interesting gameplay, etc. There are definitely things I don't like as much, but overall, I don't think I could realistically look at WoW after this.

The only bad thing about it is, well, S-E's accounting department. As silly as that sounds, it's like they are trying as hard as they can to sabotage the process of giving them money. It's really unbelievable. Once you get past that it's a nice game, but every time we've had to deal with their payment stuff, it's been a horrible experience. There's a Steam option now, and you can't interchange between the Steam and S-E streams, but I am starting to hesitantly suggest seriously considering that if you want to try it =_=

@feathers @Chel it's a weird duology considering that it's probably their most profitable venture currently??? but then outside the game itself there's just a bunch of unnecessary hurdles or pitfalls...
