If someone kindly asks you to wear a mask around them and you say No, that’s pretty profoundly fucked up.
Here’s why: Whenever someone clearly tells you how you can make them comfortable around you, that’s a gift. Whether it’s how to pronounce their name, what their pronouns are, or any other way to make someone feel safe, it’s the kind thing to do.
Be kind.
non-human thoughts
I spent most of the workday today just flatly not wanting to be acknowledged as human, but still feeling very engaged with the work and my colleagues. I solved a complex, long-standing UI/UX problem with some elegant, accessible code, collaborated with peers across multiple departments, solicited and acted on feedback, and never once felt obliged to perform a version of myself that felt inauthentic. 🔶

It is fascinating to try out different blending colorspaces for gradients. The results can be wildly different. So far in all my testing I prefer the look of CIE LCh(uv). It seems to avoid the muddy, grey middle but without introducing 'unexpected colors’ in the middle like something like HCL can produce.
I answered 8 questions about my trans werewolf horror story "They Say Don't Get Clocked" as part of a thesis study by Miranda Lascelles.
She asks werewolf fiction writers "what aspects of humanity does Lycanthropy symbolize" in media and their work. I had a lot to say!
