The word "excellent" is derived from the Christian practice of giving up the use of Microsoft Excel for 40 days to commemorate Christ's sacrifice.

It is a period of great productivity.

The date of lent is calculated by using an obscure Excel macro on a field that didn't originally have anything to do with dates, but Excel converted it to one anyway.

just woke up and i've already seen a "releasing games on linux is too hard" take, a "why bother making my website work in firefox" take, and a story about someone filing a CVE that was hallucinated by an LLM.

i'm not really enjoying computers lately

I just realized what a powerful influence Star Trek: TOS had on me. Thanks to CBS's tacky '00s CGI effects replacing Desilu's cheesy '60s model/rotoscope effects, I've developed an unhealthy distrust of absolutely everything appreciated in its original run and now available only in remastered editions.
