covid-19, face masks, rant

I had to go to the Family Dollar for a few things. Two folks were chatting about how their relatives caught the coronavirus, & how so many of them died from it. I look, & NEITHER OF THEM ARE WEARING A MASK!

I'm here like NO SHER, SHITLOCK, I WONDER HOW THEY CAUGHT IT & DIED!

This hour-long video of random '80s CGI animations is a mesmerizing representation of my fever dreams. youtube.com/watch?v=5xwLFRdewg

So y’all were just gonna let me find out about the USPS big-tiddy Bugs Bunny stamp on my own

@compufox hard working, dedicated, and most important of all, successful fairy :3

I don't want to hear anyone say Internet help desk at a small ISP is a cushy job. Pictured: the effort this lnternet Fairy put in to giving the gift of Internet this morning.

Does anyone happen to know enough to explain this message?

VICE emulating a C64 and two 1581 drives, running GEOS 2.0 on Drive A (8) and geoWrite 2.1 on Drive B (9). I ran Configure on A & copied it to B.

I double-clicked on a geoWrite document on B and got this:

its ok yall they were just checking if cloudflare was actually cake

@XerTheSquirrel Ah. Yeah, that's trickier. I can't find anything fitting the bill short of a full-blown PBX system. :/

It's so incredibly awesome that so much of the Web depends on this cloud and flare that, when it breaks, my customers think it's their Internet connection or PC breaking and so call my help desk for a fix.

Show thread

It's so awesome that the world's most important and frequently used websites all depend on a single service that wants us to think of a flare in a cloud when we mention its name.

There's no way that such a vitally important thread holding the entire modern spider's Web together could possibly break, causing catastrophic failure, no matter how intermittent, right? Right??

@zorinlynx Everyone had garish color schemes back then because of limited color pallets and Microsoft's love of dithering colors it thought the driver couldn't support.

@XerTheSquirrel I think what you're asking for is a two-way phone line simulator, and phone line simulators are definitely things.

The simpler ones start ringing one end 2 seconds after you take the other end off hook. The more advanced ones are also called FSX phone line simulators and PSTN simulators.

I hope none of you nerds here use Palemoon as an alternative Firefox browser because the developer just came out against anti-racist measures and positions.

depressing usa news realization
