Planning documents for "Scout" say the plan is to "make people addicted" to the tool before adding new features.
"the solution might be cancelling my AI subscription"

"[AI coding tech] is horrific for attention. It's a thermonuclear ADHD amplifier and I have seen the same effect in every single one of my adult friends."
@tomstafford also this (but I did not save the original artists name or who shared it first, if someone can help me out with that I’ll edit the post)
First steps after every Windows 11 update:
I am reminded of that post where someone compares Windows and malware, and comes to the conclusion that Windows is not malware, but only because malware at least works.
Welcome Kori to the World! Kori is KDE's non-binary⚧️ pet dragon and they'll be presiding over KDE's 30th anniversary celebrations throughout 🏳️🌈Pride Month🏳️⚧️.
AI bullshit
headline: “LLMs believe false statements even after explicit warnings they’re false”
pal. no.
they believe nothing. they have not the capacity for belief.
they do not understand truth and false on any level that would matter to a non-mathematician, and even that they manage to do poorly despite decades of mostly successful usage of the concepts of true and false in computer programming.
not believing known false statements is something you would expect from an intelligence with understanding. large language models understand exactly one thing: how to model language that looks like language it has been shown. that’s all. just that. attributing it with any other understanding whatsoever demonstrates a lack of understanding on your part.
hope that fucking helps.

GitHub Copilot became unusable for individual devs after the usage-based billing change — what are the real alternatives ??well, I've got a suggestion for an alternative, but I don't think they're gonna like it (it's called "code your own fucking program without stolen labor")
Maybe doing open source work for free doesn't absolve you when you start fucking things up for everybody else. Maybe "well fork it and do something" isn't a bulletproof rebuttal when someone fucks everything up for everyone else and people are upset.
I don't care if the guy shitting in the pool maintains the pool for free or it's a free libre public pool. I care that there's shit in the water. There was a common thing and he shat all over it.
FLOSSheads would tell you it's his right to shit in the pool and we don't get to complain about it, and to go build our own pool.
I'm wondering if we should kick the ass of the guy who's actively making things worse for everyone else.
Because, you know, when you have something a shitload of people rely on, then you fuck it up and make it worse, maybe instead of the onus being on everyone else to handle that, we can just kick your ass instead.
Yes, this is an rsync post. tridge has done WORSE than abandoning. At least if it was abandoned we wouldn't have a "latest" version that we all have to dodge because it sucks ass and literally doesn't build lmao.
But we have to respect the guy shitting in the pool I guess.
Here's the real thing Matt's scared of:
He owns the WordPress Foundation and its board is him and his two sycophants.
He personally, private owns WordPress.org and considers it all his own private property he's allowing people to use on a lark.
He owns WordPress.com and Automattic, of course.
He's realizing there's a very real chance that not only are his toys going to be taken away, but that he's also going to get busted for intermingling his organizations and treating them ALL like a melting-pot poured right into his own personal purse. We've seen him conduct similar shady shit in other lawsuits he's been involved with.
He's terrified because WordPress's org structures and his involvement in them hasn't really been under a legal microscope like this before. He's going to get wrecked a lot harder than just WordPress vs WPEngine if this suit presses deeper, which it will. The reaper's coming and this is his existential crisis moment.
@GossiTheDog mythos has found at least one critical vulnerability: the infosec industry is utterly vulnerable to hype, and extremely unlikely to examine the origins or methodology behind vulnerability disclosures that authorities (regardless of their poor reputation) claim are earth-shatteringly critical
Mythos is not great btw. Running it over a bunch of code, it’s similar findings to tools from a few years ago. It’s marketing, essentially. Viral marketing as people doing the marketing are companies and governments.
It’s really good at finding vulns in vibe coded stuff from Claude.. because apparently AI must be both the cause and solution to all life’s problems, like beer.
