This ignores that Microsoft Windows is the problem, not the solution, but one result of that problem, Microsoft's OS monopoly, is that there's no viable alternative to Windows.

There are literally hundreds of alternatives, but none of them are viable. The closest ones, Apple MacOS & Google ChromeOS, are servants of capitalism pretending to be servants of users as well.

What will it take, short of dismantling & abolishing capitalism, to get Windows PC makers to include the two most important user instructions & warnings in their leaflet excuse for a user manual?

Instruction 1: How to turn this daffy slab of scrap plastic off, as in for-real off.

Warning 1: The most intuitively obvious way, the power button, doesn't. It puts it in still-on sleep mode instead.

Instruction 2: How to reboot it.

Warning 2: Shutdown/"Turn Off" then turning it on again doesn't.

@catsalad Every day I get another threat intel briefing that tells me that threat actors are not vibe coding malware.

Because they need it to work.

The reality of landing on any website firewalled by ClownFlare, long before the "AI" scraper bots became the scourge of the Wild Wild Web, with untrusted, untrustworthy, and unauditable JavaScript either unsupported or forbidden from running roughshod over my PC.

Even when landing on websites that either don't need JavaScript to work or don't even use JavaScript themselves.

Another day, another conversation with the press team where I explain that I did not give the quote in that story and the whole thing is AI slop. This happens once every few weeks now.

the people censoring our porn and queer content are not puritans. they are capitalists, supremacists, and fascists. treat them accordingly.

The IT world has convinced us no new software can be deployed outside of US clouds. We're so sure about this that European governments (including the UK) are handing over vital government functions & data to US controlled servers. In this piece I argue that until recently we somehow could run stuff on locally owned hardware, and that we should urgently relearn that skill, while it is still possible - or end up as digital colony of the US: berthub.eu/articles/posts/our-

I guess I should say *how* it doesn't work, now that I'm calm enough to. Well, quite simply, there's no option or place anywhere to tell the new PC it's the new PC, let alone put in the old PC's name.

Microsoft, "Transfer your files and settings to a new Windows PC": support.microsoft.com/en-gb/wi

Both PCs are running the latest Windows 11, and this latest iteration of Microsoft's "trust me, bro, it's official" instructions don't work. The app's there and up to date on both PCs, but THE WINDOWS BACKUP APP ITSELF SAYS IT'S IN A BETA "USER TESTING STAGE"!

The last time Microsoft made transferring files and settings from an old PC to a new PC easy was when both PCs ran Windows XP. Since then, it's been either inconvenient, inconsistent, or impossible.
