Neat accessibility feature (for a11y allies): When attaching things, there's a text box at the bottom where you can describe it for folks with screen readers & anyone who just wants a tooltip before clicking on it.

Good morning, folks. I'm still having a really hard time believing that this is somehow a controversial opinion to have in 2018.

desklaunch works, and my patch works very well, but deskmenu breaks in that menu items in a submenu do nothing when I follow the manpage instructions. I really, really don't want to take over, fix, or even hack-patch the whole oroborus project.

If a software company, startup or otherwise, asks you to basically build half their product for them before they'll even give you a phone interview, then demands that your first 3 months will be an unpaid internship for this wild & crazy reason, run away.

Mastodon users, new and old:

You can add a caption, or alt-text, to images you toot!

These captions make your toots more accessible, by giving people who can't see the image a description of what's in the image.

Just hover over the image over you attach it and type a description in the spot that says "Describe for the visually impaired" before you hit the TOOT! button.

Please also encourage Mastodon app authors to add caption functionality. And please boost. Thanks!

@soft_chomps@glitch.social Hey, I just want to take a moment to thank you for headpats_bot and kemonomimi_bot. Thank you especially for taking the trouble to make them source their posts.

Is there a character limit to uploaded image alt-text in a toot?

I like bots that source their content. All bots should source their content, and those that don't should be shut down and sold for scrap.
