robotgirl who used to be a combat bot and is now at peace and trying to heal. it’s made more complicated by her chassis having chaff/flare launchers designed to protect her from incoming missiles, but it’s hard wired to her fight or flight response, so they go off whenever she’s startled or overwhelmed

she caused a small fire the first time her partner said that they loved her, when she instinctively launched flares inside her apartment.

after that she took the flares themselves out, but couldn’t take our the launchers or the hardwired connection to her main cpu, so now whenever she’s startled or overwhelmed, the launcher doors on her back open and emit a bunch of clicking sounds as it tries to launch flares that are no longer there because they’re no longer needed.

My first computer didn't run a Microsoft OS (but it did have a customized dialect of Microsoft Basic in ROM).

My first Windows PC was a Toshiba T4600C, designed for Windows 3.1, but upgraded with an 8 MB RAM card, an 800 MB HDD, and Windows 95 from a 13-floppy set.

Happy 30th anniversary to the version of Windows that gave the world the Start Button and adopted a Rolling Stones hit as its theme song.
