MFW the website I run on a raspberry pi sitting in my living room has better uptime than two of the planet's largest cloud providers

Well, Yamamoto might make the final tally 4 games to 3. Or the Jays' entire lineup finally shake him up like they've done the rest of the Dodgers' pitchers. We'll see.

The difference between the Dodgers and the Blue Jays:

The Dodgers are a team of great players.

The Blue Jays are a great team of players.

This is going to end with the team representing another country again winning 4 games to 2.

The kde-www mailing list via KDE.org, thread "No X under social media.", reply by Paul Brown on Tue Oct 28 10:22:52 GMT 2025: mail.kde.org/pipermail/kde-www

TLDR: KDE quit Twitter & refuse to go back because it became a brand "X" nazi bar & huge liability to KDE's community.

Tripped over oneko in #FreeBSD ports, and installed it for some Nostalgia. Which caused me to trip over this eliotakira.com/neko "Neko: History of a Software Pet" page.

Which included a repository of a bunch of historical versions. Including the original 90s #BeOS version which had introduced me to the net kitty.

Which caused me to wonder if the "replicat" app from BeOS could be made to build in #Haiku. (It can).

The actual replicant feature where the app window is embedded into the desktop isn't working quite right for some reason that escapes me at the moment. (Other replicants work fine on my system.) #HaikuOS

i want recommendations for free text to speech interfaces like those used for speech impaired people (screens of icons for quick vocabulary, customizable, with option for full text input)

bonus points for something with a highly customizable voice, or also seeking recommendations for any tts voice that's local, customizable, not genAI, runs on old hardware. i don't want solutions that only work with the system's black box TTS i have to find arcane packs for

Once upon a time, Napster was a "sharing is caring" pirate website.

Then the RIAA killed it, took control of it, and resurrected it as a "rent to never own" pirate website.

Now it's dead again and about to be resurrected as a dot-ay-eye "plagiarism machine" pirate website.

TIL one form of CDDA copy protection is intentionally corrupted error correction codes causing audible glitches in ripped copies which explains a lot of MP3s i downloaded as a teenager sounding the way they did
