If you use a #typewriter eraser to correct a typo, remember to slide the carriage to the extreme end first, using the margin release lever if you need to, so that eraser bits don't fall in and gum up the works.

I just realized that, if your main coding PC has a document scanner and OCR software, like a cheap flatbed and Tesseract for example, then you could, at least in theory, use a manual #typewriter in your favorite hideaway as the ultimate distraction-free code authoring tool.

If your typewriter doesn't have a delete key, then take along a typewriter eraser and a writing correction tape.

I don't remember & can't find the source, but it was popular enough a humorous definition that it appeared in print in "Peter Norton's New Inside the PC" book, published in 2002, page 33.

There was once a computer expansion standard, popular in the '90s & featured mainly in laptops though used in some desktops as well, called PCMCIA.

Someone needs to make & sell removable SSDs openly standardized as 3-inch (7-cm) square wafers, together with removable SSD receivers (internal & built-in on laptops and tablets!), that look & work just like floppy disks & drives from days gone by.

The convenience of USB thumbdrives, without the drawbacks of laptop dongles, tiny & easily lost media, & "Which one of these stupid things did I put the files on!?"-itis.

When trying to open any File Explorer icons, the Windows 11 desktop crashed & restarted. The cause was the KB5095093 update from 2026-06-23.

On uninstall & reboot, Windows 11 reinstalled it & rebooted again. Softing Microfuck.
