So, earlier, I had the idea to try putting mouthwash in an Rx bottle. Lo and behold, it was brilliant. Then, I thought it might be a good idea to put that in a bigger bottle, to prevent spills. Unfortunately, the bigger bottle was just a bit too small. I forced it, and now it's stuck.
Folx, I have an IQ of 135 (WISC-IV), high enough to almost be classed "genius". Don't ever let anyone convince you IQ is a meaningful measure of intellect. It's not.
(Honestly, I feel like more telling about my year is the fact that I couldn't pull those last two off my phone directly because I still haven't figured out how to mount removable devices on FreeBSD. But, that's just me.)
Inspired by mavi, I figured I'd do this year retrospective in selfies!
...
Unfortunately, I'm not much of one for selfies. I cannot find any selfies from the first half of the year, and I really only have four I can find for the year total. So, You'll have to settle for the past 5 months.
July, August, October (31st!), November
(cw selfies, eye contact)
drugs and chemistry, two of my favourite things
tfw someone complains about there not being a viable synthesis for methylphenidate (for black market stuff, not as a pharma company), so you search the literature and end up sending them two papers on dexmethylphenidate synthesis that are both are described as "easy" but are actually horribly complex. (Yes methylphenidate and dex- are different, but the state of the art is similar)
@DarkWitchClaire Someone has, but there's good reason we don't talk about it. It's quite possibly the most horrifying thing I've ever seen.

Results of the largest yet research on trans kids
Largest yet research on #transgender children concludes trans kids develop their gender identity in a way indistinguishable from their cis counterparts, and debunks the contention that trans kids are just "going through a phase" https://www.insider.com/transgender-kids-develop-gender-identity-like-non-trans-kids-research-2019-11
i hate capitalism for making art about *competing* with other artists, rather than collaborating with them.
"you can't go into music its too competitive" "there's a million people more qualified than you"
under communism all the artists will have stable jobs making art they love
& when a kid tells their parents they wanna go into arts, the parents will encourage them, & talk about all their favorite artists that maybe the kid'll get to collaborate with one day.
Trans question
@ak@beach.city I suppose let me add my own voice to the pile. I've not been an adult for particularly long (I turn 21 next month), but I've not transitioned yet largely due to social anxiety. Like, money is a bit of a concern right now as is safety, but it's mostly me being too scared to actually do the things I need to do to start transitioning. I mean, I've been meaning to go talk to a nearby LGBT clinic for over a month now, but haven't because anxiety.
