the mainstream narrative of the Rwandan genocide is a victim-blaming lie: a thread
The vagues ideas that many people have about the genocide that took place in 1994 in #Rwanda—one where "extremist" Hutus set off cycles of senseless violence that Paul Kagame's Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) raced to stop while the world kind of just watched & did nothing—is full of distortions, leaves out many important details, & even includes many outright lies.
This thread is a corrective. (genocide talk ahead)
TIL via a DeafBlind TikToker and confirmed via a DuckDuck search that, in an emergency situation, if you are with a (culturally!) DeafBlind person, drawing an X on their back or, barring that, palm, is a way to communicate "We have to get out of here, NO DISCUSSION."
Disability advocates often talk about the importance of not physically grabbing/moving people. Emergencies MAY be an exception but now you know a way to communicate instead!

uspol, re: the coup attempt
It would be like knowing someone's a child pornographer, and merely giving them a slap on the wrist temporary suspension and saying you'll only ban them if they do it again. At that point, if they do it again, I honestly feel you're liable for that. You knew they were problematic and you let them stay anyways. It's no different with Twitter letting Trump stay. 3/3
uspol, re: the coup attempt
And even if you think Twitter shouldn't be held liable for yesterday, they are explicitly allowing him to stay on their platform as long as long as he doesn't try this again. Even if you don't think they should be held liable for yesterday, they are absolutely culpable if he does this again using their platform. 2/3
uspol, re: the coup attempt
So, ostensibly, I support section 230. I think that most people who hate it don't even know what it is. But after the events of yesterday, I think we've finally hit the limit of §230. Twitter has known how bad Trump can be for *years* and let him keep using their platform. Twitter should absolutely, in part, be held liable for what happened. 1/2
Holy shit.
I just realized that we're now re-entering a time where there is an actual mac/pc distinction. It's been so long, given that they've both been practically the same hardware since apple moved away from powerpc, but we're going back to the before times, when macs and pcs weren't just same hardware, different case/OS.
Damn.
re: Windows hot take
Anyways, enough windows hot takes. In conclusion, Vista and 8 weren't that bad.
P.S. Linux is still better.

And, I guess I should admit I used Classic Shell to get the start menu back. I didn't use the start screen on my laptop. But, honestly, that's like the one tweak it needed, IMO.
