recurring bad-faith arguments

accusing someone else of being what they are in order to muddy the waters
claiming that because something isn't perfect it should be entirely destroyed
actively working to sabotage that thing that they're saying doesn't work perfectly
trying to change the discussion to where exactly the line is drawn rather than which people are on the wrong side of the line
blaming someone else for causing a problem that they themself created
"we're not all irredeemably bad people" when accused of being or working with an irredeemably bad person
just straight-up lying about what words mean and claiming things as fact that are exactly the opposite of easily-verifiable facts

The worst thing about Seattle was how lily white everything was, combined with how lacking in self awareness they all were about it. Staten Island has a similar population and ethnic breakdown, but is acutely aware of it. Seattle swears it's a very progressive town.
