to be completely honest, there's a reason you shouldn't try to play some games on a system much faster than it was made for

but at the very least, adlib tracker has a setting that fixes this when enabled

was wondering why the hell adlib tracker was giving me the same hellnoises as ultima 6

timing issues

i need to find a way to support that big awe32 in my old comp's case

it's drooping a bit because of the case orientation (vertical rather than horizontal like most computers that'd have tons of ISA slots) and i'm worried the card is starting to warp a bit

now i can have the ESFM playing fm game music while the awe32 plays the digital sound effects

realization: with another headphone cable, i could connect the line-out for one sound card to the line-in on the other and never have to switch cables again

@BatElite @Felthry there *is* a spot for a MIDI daughterboard on the larger board: the 26-pin header at the top right of it is a Wave Blaster header

@Felthry @BatElite yeah those are for the expansion ram

i have to do a repair on that section of the board because the awe32 currently can't detect the expansion ram that I have

long post, sound card stuff

also, that ability to map more 4-op voices comes from it having twice as many operators to work with

72 as opposed to 36

ESFM has a couple of advantages over a real OPL3

Primarily in being able to map more than six 4-op voices, which allows for some more complex sounding music.

However this only applies to the native mode of the chip, which is only ever taken advantage of by midi playback in Windows.
