I forget, do folks on here not use the favorite button as much (or the same way) that folks use the like button on Twitter? noticed that often toots with a number of replies still have zero faves

@cigazze yeah 'favourite's a lot stronger word than 'like' so that's kinda the guiding principle in how I've tried to use it lately

@cigazze Personally I keep going back and forth with how I use it, but I feel that it's not quite a suitable replacement for any type of reply. Maybe "I read/got this" but I don't want to make an expectation towards that either. I really haven't figured out a graceful way to do it yet. :/

@cigazze i use it like a "good content" button p freely, esp. if i wanna acknowledge the toot without a full reply cause i dont have anything to say. but i can also fav and THEn reply if i esp. like it. i also recognize i have a weird habit of looking at a toot to see if other ppl had fav'd it, and deciding whether to go ahead with the fav if others did. fav's are weird across platforms and seem to be made for algorithms' sakes moreso than human communication, tbh

@cigazze I think it's not "people use the favourite button less", it's actually "people here use the reply button more"
