the one thing i can honestly say i learnt thanks to my university studies that i dont think id have figured out elsewhere

everything is messier and more complex than any of us are willing to admit, and we should be talking about it in much simpler terms than people who are interested in the messiness and complexity will ever be willing to do

You ever think about how the ultra wealthy put out a lot of propaganda about communism taking the food out of poor people's mouths when really it just redistributes their millions and billions that poor people already don't have and this is a big reason why it's hard to unite the proletariat? Because they think we're coming for their remaining $50 when we're telling coming for this dude's $50 million.

@Ferretsyndicate The fact that the entire thing folded within hours of the first signs of a strike makes me think that the US establishment is so convinced workers won't strike that they would be powerless against it if it were to happen on a massive scale.

We have plenty of strikes here, they are generally long winded affairs and tend to end unsatisyingly. Seeing a small scale action achieve its goals instantly screams opportunity.

climate crisis / deforestation / solarpunk

@InvaderXan
The two are not completely separate - after his visit to South America, Alexander von Humboldt started writing about how the brutal colonial system, in addition to the human cost, led directly to environmental devastation.

climate crisis / deforestation / solarpunk

I mean, feel free to discuss anarchist governance or decentralisation or whatever as much as you want. But, just, try not to forget the point.

Earth's biosphere doesn't care about how humans choose to organise themselves. Earth only cares that we stop doing damage and start taking better care of the environment.

And ultimately, I agree with Earth. 🌍

We're actually capable, if we choose to, to increase the amount of biomass Earth is capable of growing. We just need to change how we organise our cities. Stop covering everything in concrete and allow trees to grow.

This is the #solarpunk I signed up for. In the end, if we don't actually help the planet, everything else is irrelevant.

They argued with me for so long and then resorted to trying to tell me I'm ugly and that us SJWs need to stop "deconstructing beauty" and that I'm gonna end up alone forever for it

I don't think they realize I have 6 partners and look fucking adorable :nail_varnish:

Sorry if I'm filling your timelines with arguing, I just think it's hilarious to hear righties try to justify their shitty behavior and then switch to abrasive insults as soon as they realize they're unable to.

On another note, check out these guys I very much recommend blocking:
