So I mean, this place has virtues, but a lot of the really vaunted ones people were talking about in August were clearly kind of an oversell.

I no longer really buy “the fedverse is not for brands.” Like, it’s not for selling things. But this format doesn’t really do all that much to minimize parasocial attachment. And people mostly just produce *more* content to get around the ephemeral quality of the posts?

People, even people who are anti-brand, have gimmicks here. Some even have logos, ffs. And people absolutely still overstep. In fact, on other social media, people seem to have a slightly better sense that someone is a stranger. Negativity is less intensely personal on other sites. And no, negativity’s not less common here.
