The fact that you compare people in polyarmourous relationships to kinks or queerplatonic relationships to "having friends" is abhorrent. These people face oppression for their orientation and the commitment they chose. They do get to call themselves queer. No one but the fringe cases of exclusionists would oppose that.

This is like when I tell people I'm bisexual and they say "everyone is a little bi"
@theguardian aint no time like the present!!
@tothepark Fuckin Finally
@theguardian right now!
@danishcookies Oh, absolutely.
My friends that I "met" online during the original liberatory #jan25 revolution told me it is now worse than during the Mubarak dictatorship,
but then as now, the "world leaders" prefer Egypt under dictatorship and with economic exploitation imposed by IMF "loans" forcing neo-liberal policies, so they sell arms and surveillance equipment to the regime which is e.g. among the world's wost against Free Press (there is only one actual free newspaper left).

Okay but I didn't choose to be attracted to multiple people at once.
Reminds of when the then "Muslim Brotherhood" Egypt regime declared in 2012 that people must beware protests lead by anarchist "B for Bendetta",
which was actually "V" from the movie "V for Vendetta", also known as "the Anonymous mask",
so in response several people went out and bought such masks to wear in their already planned protests.
An Egyptian journalist friend of mine said then,
"Do you know what 'anarchism' means? It means your mother will wear a 'bandetta' mask!".
:-D
@Mailliw If anything, this action by the Egyptian military dictatorship may CAUSE people to start wearing yellow in protest of them and it obviously doesn't have to be safety vests.
So stupid.
@b9AcE Symbols are powerful but I agree with the activist. The vest worked well in France because everyone owned a vest already by law which meant it already had meaning in the context of an emergency. While this is far from the first powerful movement to be associated with the color of their clothing I think each country is going to have to find their own symbols and identities that will rouse the masses. It's nice to see other countries are scared though.
