These celebrations where not pointed toward a ruler pr a religion, but at the joy of being alive, which is why we find lots of old criminalizations of May Poles and these types of celebrations in general. The concept of May Days thus became about the overlap of joy and (in) resistance. People always have celebrated their lives in spring dispite bosses and rulers and have often needed to do so militantly. The movement for joy and against work that eventually led to the 8hr work day was no different. It fampusly involved a may day rally in Chicago (?) In which a stick of dynamite was thrown at some cops, and 8 (?) Anarchists/labor organizers were executed after a bulllshit trial. This event in that joyous movement was what added "international workers day" into the MayDay celebration roster. We continue to celbrate MayDay by excercising our autonomy over our joy, and the joy found in fighting to be free. HAPPY MAYDAY! SMASH THE FUCKING STATE!

@danishcookies I don't think I'd really call it queerphobic, because it's much more than that. It's the deliberate act of conservative powers to erase queer existance from history to invalidate the present. Phobic fits, but this is more than that, it's a direct attack.

The good news is that things are bettering. I went on a LGBT walk here in Denmark, which walked around one of our major graveyards, pointing out historical figures and how they either very obviously or likely were LGBT.

Next time you think about making fun of straight girls please think - is this making fun of heteronormativity or just plain misogyny?

I've seen too many times people make fun of straight girls in sexist ways that aren't critiquing anything problematic in any way. I've seen people make fun of straight girls for liking feminine boys because "wow lmao he's a bottom do you think he'll top you?" which... Being feminine doesn't mean you are a bottom and women don't have to be bottoms that assumption is just regular sexism. And anyway, what's wrong with girls liking feminine boys? Men don't have to be masculine, and girls don't have to like masculine men.

Please consider whether what you're saying is actually making fun of a prevelant problem or if you're just looking for an excuse to shit on women!

This goes for other things too like fat shaming people you don't like etc.
