The year #Sandman ended, I met @neilhimself at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
We teenagers always sneaked in through the parking garage to steal comics.
He suddenly sat on a chair, being interviewed. I summoned my courage and my English - both wobbly - and congratulated him on the completion of Sandman.
He said he'd very much "appreciate" it and I had no idea what that meant. So I channeled his comic worlds for help, became an immortal being, said "you *should* " and strutted away flamboyantly.

Seriously though, fedi was *built* by furries, trans and queer folk, disabled neurodivergent people.
This is *the reason* the culture here is what it is. Why CWs are a thing. Why image descriptions are a thing. Why privacy matters here. Why moderation tools not only exist, but are usable โ and used.
If you had joined and asked yourself "wow, how come this place is so chill and kindaโฆ nice?" โ that's thanks to all the nice people from communities some people call "weird".
So #KeepFediWeird.

Anatomy of a sound effect. Something I developed over a decade ago to help my students understand the flexibility and power of sound design in comics. I've been told this has been used in some college classes as well--I just hope it helps lead cartoonists to more thoughtful integration of sound in their comics!

Shoutout to one of the great oddities of the #comics medium. LONGSHOT COMICS by Shane Simmons. A full length comic book where every page had 160 panels! Funny writing and smart choices throughout.
