I'm suddenly curious if there's a creative intention for only so many characters having 2 eyes?

I thought it was just Mae & her fam, to indicate who's a main character, but Angus and Selmers also has 2 eyes

almost everyone else has just 1 eye showing, because of the forced perspective style of 2D platformer

but maybe it's something about facing forward to our problems?

or keeping an eye on the prize? (and one connected to reality?)
