@KaraLG84 I have Metatext and Toot and I use them both for different things, but I'm not sure if it's an app limitation or a server one. Some servers aren't using the latest Mastodon features so it might be that.

so, about that 30 day migration cooldown…

@yonabee@eldritch.cafe Thank you for this post! I was in fact confused about this, and assumed that it referred to migrating again from the current server. What a weird way to word it for what it actually means.

@benetnasch The choices that were made for Mike in the later movies were so baffling. Stephen King is no bastian of progress, so it wasn't great in the book either, but I don't think the movie changes were an improvement.

I've been meaning to reread the book as part of a thing I'm doing to review books that were formative for me as a child, and I'm not particularly looking forward to revisiting Mike's arc.

My love for the movie The Menu

@jules Ooh this is good to know, it's been on my list and I haven't gotten to it yet. Hopefully soon.

@TheBreadmonkey I've been veeery slowly making my way through the book and I can't decide if I want to finish that first or watch the movie first, but either way, I'm looking forward to watching it at some point. I am a notorious M. Night Shyamalan hater, but even so.

I love that y'all are boosting/faving this silly post, but it is causing a serious itch in my brain that there's a missing apostrophe and I didn't realize before I posted it. I don't have the option to edit without deleting and redrafting, so I'm just going to have to live with it, but I couldn't go on without at least acknowledging it.

@Greenseer Haha I love that most of the answers you've gotten so far are actually quite healthy. I eat mostly trash tbh, and my 3 AM snacks are like, chocolate chip granola bars or strawberry frosted Pop-tarts. Sometimes chocolate doughnuts or those ones with powdered sugar. A muffin or lemon bread if I'm feeling fancy and my mom has baked and given me something good.

@purrsnikitty Lmaooo. I would definitely have been embarrassed because social anxiety, but you shouldn't be. Kittens mewing brightens up any day.

Apropos of nothing, Ive only recently discovered that the πŸͺΊ emoji exists, and it makes me very happy even though I have few reasons to use it.

That's all, as you were.

@loren Saaame though ugh. I'm pretty mean to myself about it, like, stop being lazy already and get your shit together, but you should definitely not do that. You deserve to give yourself as much compassion and kindness as you would give someone else in the same situation, as trite as that is to say. Surviving is hard, let alone actually living.

@loren This is honestly so relatable it hurts, except for me it's the past several years. I've made a lot of internal progress, mental/emotional/etc, but in terms of actual life stuff, it feels like I'll be stuck here forever.

Not to make it about me, but, you know, solidarity.

@karlpybara I feel like please no is actually the correct option, but I had to vote for yes because I've been wanting to watch it and I haven't yet, and doing it on edibles sounds so much more horrifying, which = fun to me lol.

Where Darkness Blooms by Andrea Hannah is also out today and I'm dying to read it, but it's not on Bookshare yet.

There are way too many out today that I want to read, including I Have Some Questions for You by Rebecca Makkai, The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz, It's One of Us by J.T. Ellison, and, for a total change of direction, For Her Consideration by Amy Spalding. They're all on Bookshare already and I don't know which to read first. Leaning toward either the Rebecca Makkai or the Julia Bartz, but I haven't decided.

@le I don't have an answer for this, but as a totally blind screen reader user, I appreciate that you're asking it and I'm going to boost.

@mosteller Love this for you. Skin care is something that seems so basic, but it can really change the way you feel. I struggle to do it consistently for myself, but I hope you're able to do it often enough to regain your sense of self πŸ’œ

@kittywifclaws Ugh we hate to see it. Why would anyone ever want to emulate what Elon is doing? He's so clearly destroying the platform he spent so much money to buy.

I've built up a huge support system on Facebook and a lot of my friends there don't use any other social media, so I never know what to do when things like this happen. It's not as easy as an instant boycott for me, but I also don't want to uncritically support.

@KaraLG84 Yeah that's what I've heard about them. They've been known to chase and peck a person or 2 haha. Maybe I'll eventually get to touch a stuffed one or a taxidermy one or something.

I've never gotten to touch a goose to really get a sense of what they're like and it's one of the great sadnesses of my life. I love them so much, and I know what they look like in theory, but I want so badly to interact with them.

Anyway it's very beautiful outside today, mid-60s and cloudy with occasional rays of sun, but wind gusts are reported to get up to 22 mph, which I feel should be illegal. I know I live in the state where the winds come sweepin' down the plains, but 22 mph just feels like a homophobic microaggression against me personally.

Still, there's a lot of birdsong and windchimes from the neighbor's porch, and the faint smell of barbecue smoke, so that's nice.
