Modded Minecraft [Automaton]
woops I spent 7 hours faffing around
Most of which was spent trying to find a mushroom island, but I did! I'm going to set up my main base here
minecraft mods
I've been meaning to try out Immersive Engineering for a while now – it's one of the major mods that I've NEVER played, but it seems like my kind of thing.
And I managed to just happen upon this modpack: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/automaton
which not only includes Immersive Engineering and a bunch of related mods, but also a quest system (which helps you figure out how to progress)
If you like my art, why not check out my WorldAnvil! It contains meaty [WIP] details so far on my multiversal setting, working titled Okanverse, where I take a hard sci-fi approach to an expansive multiverse where anything is possible, in a transhuman future filled with trans furries. Thanks everyone
scabtech // uber
uber’s innovation isn’t its app but its deflection of liability onto the workers. pdx radio cap is a worker-owned taxi service and they have a dispatcher app too, and it’s just as convenient. all the trimmings that uber uses to enhance the disenfranchisement of drivers are unique to their hostile motivations. the quality of life improvements that software applications offer need have nothing to do with the poverty gun.
Classic Doctor Who :: [an aside (Season 1)]
hmm, thinking about The Reign of Terror again.... maybe I should downgrade it from "Watch" to "Maybe"
It wasn't bad, I'm just not sure that people would enjoy it enough to keep watching through it
Classic Doctor Who :: [Season 5 → The Ice Warriors]
(Spoilers below)
Episode 3 cliffhanger:
The Ice Warriors are aiming a gun at Victoria
Ice Warrior 1: we are ready to fire
Episode 4 begins:
Ice Warrior 1: we are ready to fire
Ice Warrior 2: ... not yet.
Wow. What a great cliffhanger. Thanks. /sarcasm
Classic Doctor Who :: [Season 5 → The Ice Warriors]
ok, this is getting really obnoxious.
I'm all for not blindly trusting computers, but at one point the Doctor does some maths on some pieces of paper, and is offended that they would double-check his results with a computer.
That's exactly the situation the doctor SHOULD be ok with – because if there's a descrepancy, then we know that either the original maths was wrong, or the computer was wrong, and from there we can fix things.
blog, "regarding why software is so bad"
i wrote up some feels about software as a craft and why it's so awful right now
> Only together can we seize the craft from the industry. Only together can we demand and develop the high ethical standards that public infrastructure requires. We are not scabs or mercenaries. We are craftspeople, and we will do our craft justice.

Classic Doctor Who :: [Season 5 → The Ice Warriors]
There are quite a few early Doctor Who stories that are anti-computer, and I'm not entirely sure where that sentiment comes from
Classic Doctor Who :: [Season 5 → The Abominable Snowmen]
I finished The Abominable Snowmen. Surprising no-one, my recommendation is "Don't Watch"
Next is The Ice Warriors.
Petty complaint: "Ice Warriors" and "Abominable Snowmen" are concepts that are too close together, mentally, and I keep having to take a moment to figure out which one I'm watching.
