IMHO yall (and me too) should be #tagging your stuff because I can never find the things I'm interested directly, usually I follow someone who boosts something that I find interesting but that something has no fricking tags.
Tagging does not make you look like you are trying too hard, but it helps people see your stuff.
It would also mean not having to add full text search to masto.
