I love you, Addi. 💜

Happy new year to you. :3

New Years Resolution

I wrote about my plans for this year here:

averylychee.neocities.org/log/

As I mention: I've already been working towards getting myself to a place where I can do this, so I'm fairly confident that this will go ok.

The main thing I need to remember is to be flexible, and to not be hard on myself.

conlang | now named (new link)

The language has been named and moved to a new page:

averylychee.neocities.org/lang

I don't yet know what tɬɯ́qʈɤ means (if it even means anything at all), but that's what it's called!

@fluffdragom Addi told me big faer can still fit in a room. Maybe not this one, but faer lovers (who I couldn't draw as more than vague humanoids given the normal restrictions) don't mind the situation. That palm in the corner probably does though. So much love to give~ :3

(I meant for it to be more focused on belly rubs, but oh well. Also durgy might be a bit too big...)

[Also since these are specifically for you, Addi, I made this one in the hope it arouses kin feels. <3]

conlang | naming

part of why my current language doesn't have a name is because it's very difficult to come up with a name that works in both the language itself and in English, since the sounds they have in common are:

/p/, /m/, /i/, /a/

And while I could name it something like "pami", I feel like this language would have a much longer name.

conlang | "how do I make my own conlang?"

even though my current conlang is called "unnamed language 3", it's actually my 6th conlang in the past 5 years. If you start making your own and need some help, I'm very happy to help you out with anything!

conlang | "how do I make my own conlang?"

Since I was asked "how do you even manage to start a conlang?", here's my answer:

It's kind of like worldbuilding, in that you can either do a vague overview and just give the impression of a language, or you can delve into the depths and build a complex beast.

The way I started was with this guide: zompist.com/kit.html

(the first paragraph-ish is just an add for future books, the actual guide starts with the italics text)

conlang | request for resources/help

hmm... I'm concerned that my tense/aspect/mode system is unconciously tending towards the way Germanic languages work.

Does anyone have any good references for Tense and Aspect systems that aren't like English? Either from the perspective of creating a conlang, or from grammars of real languages.

money

in 2019, I'm going to try out using hledger to manage my finances, instead of my own treesheets system.

My treesheets system is good for glancing at, but it requires a lot of manual calculations.

incremental game

(if you do go play this, I recommend going to the options and switching the Notation to "letters" – it's the only notation system that I can actually read once the numbers get large)

[Doctor Who] audio dramas

I've noticed a trend in the early Big Finish dramas: the 5th Doctor Stories center around ghosts or spirits.

Phantasmagoria involved a ghost vacuuming people up in 1700s london.

The Land of the Dead involves First Nations beliefs about the spirts of the land causing ancient creatures to wake up from hibernation.

(Red Dawn wasn't about ghosts or spirits.)

Winter for the Adept features a poltergeist haunting a school.

incremental game

I've been playing a bunch of Antimatter Dimensions

ivark.github.io/

I've been enjoying it, (but it's got some very "gamer memes" vibes in the news ticker and achievements, which is a bit weird.)

The thing about it that I find interesting is that it's about "reset, but"

So a lot of the things you build up to are "doing this resets the game entirely and you lose all progress, but with slightly modified starting stats"

Classic Doctor Who | Meta

Thinking back over Season 9, and I'm probably going to downgrade The Time Monster to a "maybe", because thinking back on it in retrospect I'm realising that it was a confused mess and lots of things didn't make much sense or were boring.

Like the Master summoning someone from atlantis to help him control Kronos, and then immediately revealing that he can already control Kronos....

Or the Doctor creating a time interference device from some cutlery and a wine bottle...
