I know a lot of the new people are from Comics Twitter so if you want suggestions on instances for you lot:

mastodon.art: a community of artists, illustrators seem to be most prominent

wandering.shop: a community of scifi/fantasy fans, a lot of writers and book lovers
writing.exchange: community of writers

octodon.social: general purpose instance with a good community

instance.business: instance by and for people of color, and also parody brands

cybre.space: a lot of creative queer furries

If it helps to understand, you, reading this, are seeing a post from me. I'm on the server "cybre.space" (which we call an "instance"). it's run and owned by an entirely different person from mastodon.social. We have our own community norms, moderators, and communities. But our posts still travel to your server and so you can read our posts too. We call this process "federation." Likewise, I can see your posts even if you're on a different server from me. This way, we can all have mods we like and trust

hey, so I posted a thing on twitter about joining and using mastodon! I hope it helps someone~

The only way we will get through this, is with care for each other.

You are not _really_ doing your homework unless you are making a DSL for it. 👌

So there's very little likelyhood this'll actually get seen by any of the current influx of people coming in off of Twitter, but I wonder what their initial reactions are to any of our other deliberate design differences are? Like, the only-hashtags searching, the no quoting, etc.?

discussion of transphobic jokes

several people have recommended I watch a particular australian comedy troupe, but every single video I've been linked has a "man in a dress" joke

and it's so fucking upsetting because the other jokes are good...

ok my timeline is going too fast, I'm skipping forward

if you posted anything in the past half hour that you think I should see, let me know!

ok so i uploaded then deleted this yesterday but i just listened to it again and its actually not that bad?

good morning 💕

do you know what I love??

good morning hugs
