oh my gosh I figured it out

by default the map editor makes every entity have a colour

the default colour is black

well, I discovered that it is not in fact the map compiler that's broken!

but my map

that's good, because it now means I *don't* have to rewrite quake 2's map compiler from scratch

but bad because I don't know why my lights aren't showing up

I should make sure I make 10 less posts every single day...

I make 79 posts a day

hooray, the money arrived! an hour after I already got home!

I'm gonna go take it out of an ATM so it doesn't get absorbed by bills or something, and then also buy some cheap biscuits

1. we have enough to last us until I go back to the chinese grocery tomorrow
2. real food at the local shops is significantly more expensive than at the chinese grocery

I'm so mad.

I spent 1 and a half hours loitering about in the Chinese grocery, but because the money never came, I couldn't fucking buy the ingredients I needed to cook dinner for the next week.

I only had enough pocket change for 2 packs of 2 minute noodles

^ of course, these Computer Bros who complain about functional programming are also the kind of people who refuse to learn anything and think they're always correct, so this doesn't actually solve any of their problems

bad stuff:
* it's so ugly... not as ugly as C, but there's still too much punctuation marks
* the book I'm reading (real world ocaml) starts with a guided tour, which covers the basics of the entire language - if I wasn't used to functional programming, this would have put me off completely
* I want to use this language to do a whole bunch of stuff, but I'm scared people will say I can't because it's not as well known as other languages
