I just remembered the time I went to get some academic advice at the beginning of the year

me: it's annoying how the computer science systems only use people's legal names, despite the fact that the uni has a preffered name system
adviser: I had to give advice to someone else who complained about that - they didn't like their birth name and didn't want to be referred to as a man or a woman, how crazy is that? hahahaha..
me: ...
adviser: oh, you're one of those people, aren't you...

four years ago, I was trapped in an awful workplace, had just been exiled from my major friend group, was failing university, felt like I would never look anywhere near the way I wanted to, and expected to live out the rest of my life unloved and hated by everyone around me

today, I'm surrounded with people who love me, I've escaped the horrible places I was trapped in, and I don't look anywhere near as ugly.

I'm still failing university, but things will get better ♥

so when you sign up for tumblr, you get to choose a url and it shows you

"<yourchoice>.tumblr.com"

when you write it.

I had an idea that you could have a join-federated-tumblr.org page, where it asks you to choose both a blog name AND the domain it's on, and you finish up sign up on *this* page, instead of the instance page.

This will help new comers to actually use federation and sign up for different instances
