Luke Dash, one core developers of Bitcoin just got all his Bitcoins stolen.

But let's pretend anyone can safely store their life savings in crypto.

@marlin maybe i'm telling on myself but i've made jokes like that in the past and meant it as nothing but a joke?

@breadbin @thatKomputerKat this is a think developers put in the JavaScript. "a" clearly isn't a valid email address but i'm not done typing it yet

@lmorchard les i have to inform you i had to re-read "tiddlywiki" about three times to stop snickering

re: mental health

@rainwarrior i've noticed caffeine does not make me "alert" at all, i've once had 3 red bulls in a night and immediately went to sleep

but i noticed it helped me focus more, especially when i had a clearly defined task at hand (plus the judicious application of loud music in headphones)

i don't have a formal diagnosis of ADHD but treating myself as having it has helped me find coping mechanisms for similar problems you described

re: mental health

@rainwarrior this is why i often use monster energy drinks to code

"what is the secret to happiness?"

"to not argue with fools."

"no, that can't be it"

"yes, you are correct."

making your own echo chambers is ok sometimes

of course, you should pop the filter bubble every now and then. poke your head out of the hole to see if you can see your own shadow. but you shouldn't subject yourself to a 24/7 firehose of everything.

people in the fediverse will spread misinformation about you and form their own bubbles without any reason

that's ok

that's what the internet should be

usenet wouldn't have survived without segregation

the fediverse should not be one big mass of vitriol

i used to be a fediblockoid but seeing the way it gets weaponized against neurodivergent people and transfems has me realizing that this was entirely foreseeable. its intention was good but that kind of doesn’t matter as far as what should be done about it. what i think ive come to realize is the internet is supposed to be messy. not in that anything should go or we should federate with everyone, but that actually making things safe involves a much more complicated approach than fediblock allows.
