@caz and, no it doesn't really make any sense because the forums is open to anyone who isn't a transphobe regardless of gender

@caz it's not private, by semi-private i mean just i prefer to share invites on a case-by-case because i don't want randos i don't know to join. i know you and i'm happy to invite you if netizen.club aligns with you

@caz i have a semi-private discord somewhat aimed at tech (it's the netizen club discord) that i keep encouraging people to bring their friends into and nobody does so we're just a dozen or so idlers that almost never speak 🙃 but yes also the forums don't usually get new people either

@caz SMTP hasn't changed, and last i tried it (admittedly a couple of years ago) gmail still accepted the authentication methods that the client embedded in retrozilla 2.2 (which is just netscape messenger) could speak (i assume that is no longer the case since recently they've been phasing out password authentication)

every time i try to join a community for something innocuous like a hobby hardware platform for example it turns out to be far too okay with white supremacists and i have to leave and this is how i have no friends online outside the single space i moderate myself that nobody wants to join

netizen.club/~wildweasel/ - it's liiiiiiive! god I forgot how exciting it is to redesign a website, this was something I used to look forward to back in the early-aughts before corpos ruined it =P
