@eater also i upgraded the screen to IPS 800x480 and added internal speaker

@eater lima (mali 400) is mainline. GL 2.1 support, forget which GLES version. mednafen works alright for GBA, pocketchip variant of pico8 still being maintained by zep to this day. i'm using the mainline 5.14 kernel, not 4.4-ntc

@bonzoesc i'm already having to learn this project's ass backwards cmakelists i don't feel like having to learn how to make an armhf docker

@bonzoesc i don't feel like installing docker and i'm not sure if it would be any easier to get sdl2:armhf into docker as it has been in apt, i just can't get the compiler to see it anywhere

anyway just wasted several hours trying to cross-compile something that i could probably have waited for the tiny 1ghz pocketchip compile itself

i really wish cross-compiling was possible. you'd think we should be able to use multiple-ghz machines to compile for smaller ones. oh well

sometimes i really wish i knew at least one other person who knows how to compile things to pick their brain

i wish i could make any programmer friends, lol

this post brought to you by me trying to run fs-uae on a pocketchip

Show thread

i wish it was easier on linux to grab shit-old emulators that have piss-poor accuracy but can run on your grandma's 486. rolling releases are great for support until all of the software it brings needs a quadcore with fuck-you ram

fs-uae-launcher is massive and doesn't fit on a 800x480 screen, i have to use X11 forwarding to set things on another computer, and i can't even find where the system settings for video etc are being stored, it sure as hell isn't on either of the folders it creates in .config

Show thread

fs-uae is miserable to use on anything but the latest and greatest huh

@Atatra i regret not gutting more parts off that broken laptop we trashed

oh, oh, laptop speakers, everybody's always selling gutted laptop spare parts

Show thread

by which i mean i'm more upset that i can't easily find loose parts like this in-country so that shipping is quicker

Show thread

i need a tiny speaker and i don't know what to rip one out of without having to order parts from china (i have no issue ordering parts from china, i just want one now)

@lmorchard @boogah it looks disgusting. i want two.

the font looks like the simpsons font

when i last talked about this when my fiancée linked a kitchen appliance shop website from the UK that i couldn't see for the same reason, someone asked me "what? does it happen that often?"

yes. yes it does

Show thread

it has been 0 days since i've ran into a website i never heard of before having wording that means that i, personally, am arbitrarily blocked from viewing it, because i decided to spawn in the wrong part of the world

but when china does it, it's an outrage
