coming back to a linux laptop i haven't used in a year or so. i look up at the indicator applet tray in my MATE desktop. there is a prohibited symbol. i click on it. an empty box appears. i right click on it. i get the helpful about box that this is an indicator applet panel. i do not know what the prohibited sign means. i cannot get rid of it without getting rid of all the other applets. this is the reality of using a linux desktop

@toemat Was super generous and sent me some of my favorite photos 3D printed with their converter tool! Not only that, they installed a really cool inner light to illuminate the pic.

@arielmt that's close enough to "shit" in portuguese that, honestly, i could own that

immediately getting 5 favourites on a tweet and feeling like a baseball player who just hit a grand slam on the first pitch looking

they just announced the merriam webster word of the year 2025 and it's roguelike deckbuilder

@mwichary dominant but that's my left paw - the gboard feature to make it shrink and be able to be moved into a corner is a godsend. every UI being designed to have the main action button be on the bottom right is not

if you use favourites as a read receipt you have no moral ground to say that words have meaning

i think opus compressed noise that ends up sounding like indiscernible voice chatter is the white noise that works best for my sleep mode
