@vxo i don't think it even has an option for an iris or nd filter, but a failing gain circuitry is likely

@earthshaking it is, and it does seem to react properly when pointing it at a bright light

is there anything i can measure to be able to tell?

i really wish i could somehow modify the firmware on these and allow for manual exposure instead

i have a Sony Mavica FD-71 that's working but taking pictures much darker than an FD-75. from what i can tell they're ostensibly the same camera with the same sensor hardware only with/without manual focus. has anyone serviced these models? is there some aging component that can be replaced to make the pictures not as dark?

@bonzoesc that's for 1.5 and below, mine is 1.6

i did lift the trace for SPDIF and had to patch it lol

@fluffy @shebang it's a reference to this, which was shortly before pat gelsinger errr.. "resigned"

could display drivers PLEASE stop trying to set my resolution scale to 125% when i manually set it to 100% thank you

let me listen to nothing but the bass and feel like i'm outside a nightclub blasting the tunes you heartless bastard

remember when music players would have an EQ box right front and center? how you could change the way the music sounds, just because you could? and then everybody bought into the "no, EQ is bad actually, just get better speakers" audiophile bullshit and now everything is less fun and more expensive

@Ronflaix i guess it does (and i didn't know about that) but if i have to fish your URL out from the whole-text of the dialog box i'm just going to groan even more and complain about it online!!

i love it when programs do this thing where they put a long url on a dialog without selectable text for me to copy. yeah sure let me just type that in letter by letter to see an unhelpful faq page written by the intern

my ibook g4 from 2005 is one of the best calibrated computer screens i own simply because there is a feature to adjust the colors by eye built into its operating system
